Sports Specific Training

The need for sports specific training is greater than ever. It is essential for every athlete, amateur or professional, to have a tailormade programme to ensure maximum performance, plus the all important protection against injury.

Our goal is to make you excel at your sport, but we also put great emphasis on injury prevention via prehabilitation procedures to stop problems/injuries before they happen. We use our knowledge to create a tailored sports specific programme that adresses issues such as muscle weaknesses and firing sequences. This will allow you to take the physical demands of your sport injury free.

 

 

Initial Consultation

With all our athletes we undertake a 30 min FREE consultation. During the consultation we get our potential athletes to fill out a questionaire about their sports and injuries etc. Our team will then be able to research everything there is to know about the athlete's specific sport and what demands it has on the body (if we dont already know!).

Once you have decided you would like to work with us, we will go through an extensive body composition analysis if neccesary. This involves calculating body fat percentage and taking your weight and height. We will then compare these to the average in your sport. This will give us a benchmark to look at so we can start the progress.

 

Testing

We will test you in a variety of areas to ascertain your existing fitness levels and highlight the areas in need of improvment. This will allow us to create the perfect sports specific programme for you - resulting in an enhanced athlete.

We will also test your muscle fibres. By doing this we can see if you are predominately a fast twitch or slow twitch athlete. Knowing this is key, it will help us to prescribe you the most beneficial exercises for your muscle fibres and your sport. To do this we will test you on many resistance exercises and firing sequences (biomechanics). With these numbers we can calculate your muscle type and the structual balance of these muscles.

 

Nutritional Input

At Ignition Fitness everyone of our athletes is to complete a food diary to show us exactly what you eat and drink day to day. We understand that to keep your body in tip top condition, nutrition must not be overlooked. We give our athletes detailed nutritional programmes to follow. In some cases (depending on your sport and what it demands of you) we will also prescribe a supplementation programme to enhance your progress during sports training.
